Introduction to Cao Bang Chili in Dace farm
We primarily cultivate hot chili peppers, commonly known as “ớt chỉ thiên,” in Cao Bang. Additionally, we allocate a small portion of our farmland to growing “ớt chỉ địa” (milder chili peppers) for the European market. Our chili production spans 100 hectares in Cao Bang, with 60 hectares dedicated to organic chili farming, yielding approximately 1,200 tons per year. The remaining 40 hectares are cultivated under safe agricultural practices, meeting EU, Japanese, and Korean standards, with an annual yield of 1,000 tons. In total, our yearly chili production reaches around 2,200 tons.
Chili cultivation requires advanced agricultural techniques and diligent care, especially in organic farming. Over the past decade, we have gained valuable insights into organic chili production. Among the key lessons learned is the importance of maintaining biological balance and fostering beneficial microbial ecosystems in the soil. These factors contribute to healthier plants with improved resistance to pests and diseases. Additionally, our ecological farming approach enables more frequent harvests, increasing productivity to approximately 20 tons per hectare annually.
Farmers play a crucial role in chili production, with family members—such as children after school and the elderly—assisting in the harvesting process. Their contributions ensure a steady and efficient harvest throughout the season.
Currently, DACE processes and exports chili products in the following forms.
